Districts are increasingly investing in coaching programs to improve teacher practice and student outcomes. However, merely providing schools with the funding for a coaching position is not enough. To maximize the return on the investment of coaching, our research on the Dynamic Learning Project (DLP) shows that districts need to ensure that they are taking an active role in eliminating barriers to effective coaching and fostering a culture that encourages teachers to innovate their practice.

Well, another year of writing has passed, and it was a big one as 2019 marked ten years since I began my blogging journey. To still be churning out posts on a weekly basis is quite the accomplishment for a guy who never wrote nor intended to write for a public audience. For me, the push I needed came from Ken Royal, who, after hearing what we were doing at New Milford High School and then visiting, stated unequivocally that I had to share our story.

Since it’s now 2020, I thought it would be fun to revisit Karl Fisch’s video from 2006, titled 2020 Vision. In that video, Karl imagines he is the commencement speaker for the Arapahoe High School (AHS) Class of 2020, reflecting back on the past 13 years of schooling for that cohort. In the video, Karl envisioned a number of possibilities : AHS launches a 21st century learning initiative that is focused on preparing learners, workers, and successful contributors to the global community.

Wires ran all over classrooms, connecting desktops and projectors that sat in the center of instructional spaces, and wireless connections were spotty at best. . Most people don't realize that you can't just use any image you find on the internet without crediting it or paying for it. This site makes it easy to find free images. ClipSafari continues the mission of the Open Clipart Project. Open Clipart was an incredible resource for the community until it went offline.

Virginia’s Fairfax County Public Schools re-envisioned what career-focused education could look like. That effort began in the early 1990s and spurred a systemwide resurgence in career and technical education. The district now offers 16 career clusters, exposing students to a variety of technologies, from medical manikins to VEX robotics and 3D design tools such as Autodesk. .

Back at the end of January, I shared my healthy living goals with a video. In summary, I was tracking: Workouts – minimum 20 min. of cardio, one strength and one stretch exercise. Intermittent Fasting – a 14 hour gap overnight (also known as time restricted eating). Meditation – minimum 10 minutes guided. Reading or Writing – minimum 30 minutes, including e-books, but not podcasts.

There are countless potential threats to the volumes of data K–12 school districts collect: Almost daily cyberattack attempts. Natural disasters. Human error or system failures. The errors could delay crucial operations such as payroll — or even force schools or districts to temporarily close if there is no way to quickly recover any lost data.
